Twin Falls, Idaho - Magic Valley’s premier convenience store chain Oasis Stop ‘N Go’s announced the introduction of their new KickBack Customer Reward Points Card today. The card is free, and holders earn up to a 5% or more rebate on their purchases in the form of points that they can spend just like cash back at the stores, including gas. Imagine getting a “free” tank of gas for continuing to do what you’ve always done!
Dan Willie and his partners have always understood the need to stand out from the competition, especially the big box national retailers. Last year Willie was returning from a convention when he started thinking about various strategies to differentiate his stores. His thoughts turned to the frequent-flier programs he was familiar with and he asked himself if he couldn’t offer something similar to his customers.
Soon his braintrust (partners and senior mangers) were meeting almost daily discussing how to say “Thank You” to their customers. The problem, no one was offering a “way to do it” for the convenience store industry that they thought would work. And, of course, someone in the braintrust casually stated, “We’ll why don’t we just create something on our own?” A half-a-million dollars later and after nearly a year of research and development, KickBack Points is born. The group hired an advertising agency, designed a name and a card with a magnetized strip, created an Internet site and designed brochures and other in-store advertising. “The most challenging tasks were to work out the data processing to capture the points earned by each customer, determine how to handle customer service needs, security, and on-going management requirements,” says Willie.
